"I'm driving a
Bus Conversion Motor Coach,... not a
camper " .
|
|
|
We have a tendency to be proud of the fact we are converting this heavy
commercial passenger bus into one of those
fantastic Private Coaches.
This is not a cheap Motor home or an
old fixed up bus and we want people to know it . American coaches came with Stainless Steel skins.
Most Entertainer coaches
still have have polished stainless steel skins with
beautiful Graphics, what could be more pleasing to the eye.
A mirror finish is what its' all about . |
Polishing your own skins??
Be careful We must warn you ....
This is hard, very hard and tiring .. We don't recommend this if
you are not
up to 40 to 60 hours of hard labor .. try to get some help don't
try this alone .
Read instructions below or call us on our

An Introduction to Buffing & Polishing
Buffing and polishing using wheels and 'compounds' is somewhat
like using wet and dry sanding paper, only much faster.
Instead of using 'elbow
grease' you will be using the power and speed of an electric motor. The edge, or
face, of the wheel is the 'sanding block', which carries a thin layer of?
'compound' which is the sandpaper. Varying types of wheel are available, and?
the different grades of compound are scaled similar to sandpaper. The compounds
are made from a wax substance which has the different abrasive powders added to
it. When this hard block is applied to the edge of a spinning buffing wheel, the
heat from the friction melts the wax, and both wax and abrasive are applied in a
thin slick to the face of the wheel.

Compound Recommendations for polishing Stainless Steel skins

Stick
Buffing Compounds
Which wheel with
what cut? We recommend 3 colors, Black, Green, White
A, Rough Cut To Remove Scratches
Use
Sisal Wheel With
BLACK Compound
B, A lighter cutting mainly used for stainless steel
Use
Spiral Sewn Wheel
With GREEN
Compound mainly used exclusively for Stainless Steel.
C, Final Polishing
Use
Spiral Sewn Wheel
With WHITE
Compound
What you need to do a Bus with...
Buffing Compounds or Rouge
- 4 x Large Black Compound
- 4 x Large Gray Compound
- 2 x Large White Compound
- 6 x 8" Sisal Wheel
- 6 x 8" Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheels
- 6 x 8" Loose Cotton Wheels
Heavy Polishing Tools
we recommend
7", 9" Angle Grinders
.. Do not get a 4.5" angle grinder... They are not the same thing ...
Choose the right angle grinder,
that's right angle grinder not polisher.
Because you need to apply so
much pressure over so many hours this grinder will hold up . A car polisher
will not last ...

Northern tool,
Home Depot,
Harbor freight
All above are good suppliers for this type of angle grinder / polisher .
Harbor Freight is running a sale and some of their grinders are
less than $100.00
but make sure you get the extended warrantee some aren't holding up
.
Arbor
Extension,
You also will need an Arbor Extension so you can run
several sisal wheels at the same time

5/8" Electric Motor Arbor Adaptor
This is used to convert 5/8" motor shafts
to 1/2" threaded shafts for mounting polishing, buffing and grinding
wheels
Measures approximately 3 9/16" (90 mm) long
